Alto Vineyards’ grapes have deep roots in tradition, family, and community. Following our first vintage in 1988, we founded the rebirth of the grape growing and winemaking industry in Southern Illinois. We serve our finely-crafted wines with artful events and entertainment at two spacious and vibrant tasting rooms in Alto Pass and Champaign. Come for the wine, stay for everything else! 2023 Featured Wines
RED
- Chambourcin: Dry Red. A signature of the Shawnee Hills, this premium, rich, full bodied wine with soft tannins and a black cherry and plum finish. It’s a great match for grilled beef and portobello mushrooms, or your favorite red sauce pizza.
- Renzaglia Shiraz: Dry Red from the Renzaglia winery in Australia. Gently spicy and fragrant red fruits of the bouquet lead into a medium-bodied palate of spice and red fruits with a long fresh finish.
- WHITE
- Chardonel: Dry White. Our premium dry white is a French-American cross with light, fruitful nutty flavors and a touch of buttery oak.
- Weiner Dog White: Semi-Dry White. This proprietor’s blend of Vignoles, Villard, and Vidal pays homage to one of our first winery greeters, Lucy. It is easy to drink with a melon aroma and mango and pear flavors. Take it to the next level with fish, shellfish, chicken, and green salads.
- Vidal Blanc:Semi-Dry White. This local varietal has great aromas of pear and pineapple. Explore its complimentary flavors with pairings like sushi with wasabi and ginger, or your favorite hot and spicy dishes.
- Shawnee Gold: Sweet White. This premium German-style wine, similar to a Moscato or Riesling, has wonderful apricot and citrus aromas, balanced with a sweet finish. Relax and enjoy it at a picnic or sporting event with chicken salad or a lighter dessert like angel food cake.
ROSÉ
- Heartland Blush: Sweet Rosé. This delicate and fruity Concord wine is reminiscent of grandma’s grape jelly. Tantalize your senses by pairing it with fruit and cheese appetizers.
SPECIALTY
- Black-N-Blush: Sweet Fruit Red. A delicious fruit wine made from blackberries and Concord grapes. Winner of the Silver medal in the Illinois State Wine Competition in 2017 and 2019.
- Just Peachy:Sweet White. Beautiful bouquet of ripe summer peach on the nose, soft aromatics in the mouth, with a peachy finish that lingers forever.
- Cherry Berry: Sweet Fruit. A 50/50 blend of cherries and raspberries make a “berry” delightful dessert wine. Go ahead, indulge. Try pouring it over cheese cake or ice cream.
- Nona Mia Sangria: Sweet Red Spiced Sangria. A versatile, medium bodied red wine mixed with a refreshing blend of tropical fruit concentrates and savory spices. Made from Grandma Renzaglia’s own secret recipe, this red Sangria is to be celebrated year round. Serve on ice with a splash of Sprite during the summer, or try it warm on a festive winter night.
- Porto Di Guido: Sweet Port. This one-of-a-kind port-style wine is made from our estate Chambourcin grapes and will keep you toasty on a cool fall night. Escape with the scents of coffee, chocolate, and a hint of oak. To be enjoyed with blue cheese, chocolate desserts, nuts, or a fine cigar.
